14,500 turn S 25 Berlin into a running partyComfortable temperatures, sunshine and an exuberant atmosphere – 14,500 sports enthusiasts and numerous spectators along the route and in the Olympiastadion turned the S 25 Berlin into a running party on Sunday (11 May 2025). Unlike in previous years, this time the 25-kilometre distance led into the Grunewald forest. The excursion into the countryside had become necessary due to the demolition of the Westend and Ringbahn bridges – and was well received by the runners.
Race director Martin Seeber: “The preparation for the traditional race has never been so challenging. We would like to thank everyone who made this special S 25 Berlin possible and turned it into such a great event. Many runners really enjoyed the trip to the Grunewald forest. And the atmosphere around the Olympiastadion in particular was outstanding.”
Deutschlands ältester Citylauf
44 years ago, the starting signal for the running movement in German cities was given in Berlin: On 3 May 1981, the first city run in Germany was held with the ‘25 km de Berlin’. The premiere was a great success with 3000 participants. Since 2018, when Berliner Sparkasse became the main sponsor, the popular run has been called S 25 Berlin.
