The Great 10k Berlin

On 12th october 2008 BERLIN LÄUFT started a premiere: the ASICS Grand 10 Berlin. At first attempt 5.363 runners went to the start. Thereby, the event was the most successfull newcomer of the year from all new german runnings. About 6.500 athletes were registrated for the second edition.

Since then, the road of the 10-km-race pass through the capital with the start and finish at the Schloss Charlottenburg. The participants have to run a piece through the zoo, which is a special highlight. A ,tandem’-realy about 2×5 km is also integrated in the ASICS Grand 10 Berlin.

„We want to establish the ASICS Grand 10 Berlin medium term as biggest german 10-km-run“, said Gerhard Janetzky, the Race-Direktor by BERLIN LÄUFT. The organization had first successful organized in may 2008 the traditional Berliner 25-km-run, the BIG 25 Berlin, with finish in the Olympiastadion. In comparison with other countries, in germany is no large, internationally significant 10-km-run–BERLIN LÄUFT want to close this gap with the ASISC Grand 10 Berlin.

The road of The Great 10k Berlin is a city-round trip, which conclude the follwing points: Ernst-Reuter-Platz, Siegessäule, zoo, Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtnis-Kirche, Kantstraße as well as the Schloss Charlottenburg, where is the starting and finish point. Into the zoo the participants will run over the  Katharina-Heinroth-Ufer. Subsequently the road lead past at the rhino and lion enclosure. Though the elefant gate you will reach the Olof-Palme-Platz.

The transition area for the ,tandem´-realy is located after 5-km at the Katharina-Heinroth-Ufer. You can create the 2×5-km-realy with all runners– work colleagues, friends, neighbors or family members can register for the ,Tandem’-realy.
