Due to A100 closure: New running routes on May 11
Instead of running through the city center, the S 25 Berlin is heading into the countryside: the closure of the dilapidated Ringbahn bridge on the A100 makes the originally planned route impossible. For the first time in the long history of the popular race, individual sections will lead into the Grunewald forest on May 11, 2025. The highlight remains: the final sprint to the finish line in Berlin’s Olympic Stadium.
“Due to the closure of the Ringbahn bridge and the resulting shift in traffic via Messedamm and Königin-Elisabeth-Straße, the originally planned route of the S 25 Berlin could not be approved,” says race director Martin Seeber. “We worked with everyone involved to find the best solution for all running enthusiasts. After intensive coordination with the relevant authorities, we are delighted that the race can take place on the alternative route.”
New route: Grunewald instead of Victory Column
All runners will start as planned in front of the Olympic Stadium. There will be no route changes for the 5-kilometer run (start at 08:30) and the children’s run (start at 09:45).
The athletes of the 25-kilometer distance (start at 9 a.m.) will first run towards Theodor-Heuss-Platz as planned. They will then not continue towards the Siegessäule – but via Heerstraße, Jafféstraße onto Eichkampstraße, Königsweg and Kronprinzessinnenweg. The route then heads south via Havelchaussee along the Havel back to the Olympic Park and the Olympic Stadium.
The half marathon and 10-kilometer runners start at 9:30 a.m. in front of the Olympic Stadium. From Theodor-Heuss-Platz, the route heads west along Heerstraße, continuing along Heilsberger Allee and Trakehner Allee, past the Glockenturm and through the Olympic Park to the Olympic Stadium. Half marathon participants complete this route twice. The 5×5 km relay race cannot take place due to the modified route.
Race director Martin Seeber: “We would like to thank everyone involved for working so intensively and constructively to find a solution and make the race possible despite the current difficult traffic situation in the west of Berlin. We ask all runners who were looking forward to the typical S 25 route for their understanding. The 44th edition of this traditional race will be very special. We are looking forward to the greenest S 25 in its long history and many wonderful running experiences together.”
