“degewo Great 10K” attracts with colorful family program

BERLIN. Around 5,000 running enthusiasts will take to the starting line at the “degewo Great 10K” this coming Sunday, October 16, 2022 (start: 11:30 a.m.). Germany’s fastest “10K” will take runners from Charlottenburg Palace through City West and the Berlin Zoo back to the Palace, while the youngest runners will take part in the children’s race (800 meters). For marathon ace Deborah “Debbie” Schöneborn, the popular run on the streets of Berlin will be a “mega-highlight”. Short-term running fans can still register.

“I’m in top shape,” says “Debbie” Schöneborn. The European team champion from SCC Berlin will ring in the marathon season on Sunday with the “degewo Great 10K”. So far, her training schedule has mainly included small events, rehab, weight room and optimizing her technique – now she’s hitting the road for the “ten”. “This will be a mega-entry and a mega-highlight,” says the 28-year-old. “It’s tremendous fun to run where you’re stuck in traffic in everyday life. On Sunday, the streets belong to us runners. I will pass every red light with a smile.”

“degewo AG is a strong partner of Berlin sports,” says race director Martin Seeber. “We are delighted that the company is now also supporting the Great 10K, which gets many people moving every year, as title sponsor. Together we will make the run even more attractive.” The goal, he said, is to make the “degewo Great 10K” an experience for the whole family. “Charlottenburg Palace provides a unique backdrop for the start-finish area and our new ‘Kids Zone’,” says Martin Seeber. “The attractive route with a detour to the Berlin Zoo is aimed at ambitious top runners and at the same time at running beginners.”

Things get underway on Sunday, October 16, at 11:30 a.m. with the children’s run. The “big ones” start at 12 noon. In the west of Berlin, there will be temporary road closures from 9 am and until 2 pm. (Detailed information:
